Rewind, Replay, Reset

I originally wrote this catch up in three separate blogs, Part 1,2,3, but then I thought why would I make anyone suffer my inner head ramblings for three whole blogs?  So I deleted it all...It's okay you can thank me later?  😁 So here's a short and sweet, straight to the point one instead.

The reasoning behind my dream/goal when I set out at five years old no longer exists today, my parents are elderly and no longer need anything, my siblings both passed in 2015. As for other reasons, Top of the pops is no more and living with illness M.E (Myalgic encephalomyelitis)  means a stint at Wembley arena is out of the question 🤣.

As for trying to raise M.E awareness, my last attempt in terms of a lot of time, energy and money had about as much support as a Hippo in a hammock. I think when you've been  raising awareness as long as I have and there's not been any  significant changes, people get fed up and look for someone new and fresh to give them hope and to be honest I don't blame them. With  all the reasonings gone, I've realised while I still have  fire in my belly for making music, I don't have the same  fire when it comes to playing the game and chasing opportunities anymore, so I'm not going to.

It’s probably no shock that when I started out back when Dinosaurs walked the earth the music industry was very male-dominated and still is if we're honest. Things are shifting, but in genres like hip hop women are still often discussed/reviewed in a subtly  condescending, patronizing manner. It feels like the industry are still in nap mode, you know, like every few years they discover women again, act surprised, applaud itself, then change nothing.

Maybe it's life experience, age, or just the Universe telling me something, who knows, certainly not me?  But I've realised none of it means anything, nobody is going to be remembered for  social media numbers, blue ticks, chart positions or radio plays. Many of the companies behind the music platforms including distributers, are in my opinion corrupt and in some cases criminal, our values no longer align compared to when they first started. If it was Shampoo we were talking about I'd be looking for another brand, it just so happens it's the music industry.  So as some of you may have noticed earlier on in the year I changed my social media bio to include the word "Underground" hip-hop artist, and from here on in that's simply what I will  be. After coming off all platforms a few years ago I've only  been available on Bandcamp in terms of purchasing and streaming anyway, so nothing changes on that front.

I'm not done, far from it, I just don't want to be part of the game and chase anymore, no more chasing opportunities, radio plays yadda yadda, It's going to be more intimate.

I have loads of new music that I'm producing and hope to record and put out next year, sorting Vinyl and Cd's and some merch that I've designed, so  still plenty to share with you.

To end, life has a habit of throwing curveballs, and every one comes with a lesson. You can use those moments to curl up, give up, and stay tangled in frustration over things you can’t change or you can take those lessons and use them as stepping stones. Sometimes those stones need to be  moved closer together, sometimes you need to pause and breathe before moving onto the next one, and that’s okay, because every journey is different and every pace is valid. To those of you that follow, thankyou for sharing this journey with me, and I hope you continue 😜.  Feel free to get in touch on social media, I love hearing what you're up to. Merry Christmas and  wishing you all an awesome new year filled with adventures and all that you wish for yourselves, here's to 2026 🙏💜😎🎅🤶x
